The Girl I Love the Most

To whom it may concern,

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live with the most wonderful person ever?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have someone waiting at home everyday, and it's the only person you want to see and spend time with?
Have you ever sat and thought to yourself, I am married to the most beautiful and wonderful person?

It's been just over three months since Laura and I were married. It was the best day of my life and I've been happier than ever, ever since.

Almost a year ago I was home from school and went up to talk to my Dad on his bed. We talked about things that were going on, how was school, and girls and things :)
It had been a while at that point since I had thought about how fun it would be to date Laura and how I thought we could really make something of the two of us... I told my Dad that and he said,
"Twenty five years from now, when things aren't all school and having fun, is she someone you can imagine doing the fun things AND the hard things with?"

Well, I'm guessing the answer isn't too hard to guess, and I knew then that I could spend my time with Laura.

We talked shortly after that and I proposed the idea... She was skeptical and didn't love the idea at first. She thought it was just a convenience because we knew each other so well and all... But I was convinced. About a month later was our first kiss, and about two and a half months after that we were engaged.

Now, I'm no marriage expert... Obviously! But one thing is for sure, marriage is easier when you're married to someone that you're totally in love with.

Thought this may be of interest for some of you readers ;)

Sincerely,

Mr. Messer

It's DONE!!! Almost....

Brian and I have been trying to get a picture hung for 3 months now... We did put up one decoration but other than that, nada.  So last night for family night we finally took some time, did some shopping, and voila!!  I love it.  We still have another wall or two that we're going to fill with our wedding reception pictures when we get them.  But it's just so exciting to put up some decorations and pictures!!  We love our little apartment and feel very blessed to have all that we have.

Living Room-Smile Nya!

Great kitchen , I love all my cupoards!

Bedroom (Brian hates making the bed, and frankly, so do I, but it's just too dang beautiful not to have)

Other side of bedroom

Bathroom

We also have a rocking laundry room.  I wish I would have taken pictures of what the apartment looked like before we moved in.  Brian painted the entire place (it took forever but he did such a great job).  It's wasn't bad before, but it's amazing what paint, some color, and decorations can do.

Coming out of the temple!

We don't have the wedding day pictures yet but I did find this video on my brother's phone.  Such a great day!

Sorry it's not high quality, but I love it!

I'd like to know...

OKAY.  I'd like to know what genius decided we had to work 40 hours A WEEK.

I've been crunching some numbers and have come to find that full-time workers, (usually very important significant others like husbands or fathers) spend approximately 24% of their week at work.  But then you add on travel time, which for most people varies between 15-30 minutes, more when there's traffic, then lunch breaks, which now by law have to be an hour...  So! Add on another 1 and 30 minutes each day= 47.5 hours a week at work.  BOOM.  Just went up to 28%.  That is just a week, a day we spend 40% of our day at work.

Still doesn't sound like a lot does it... but then, remember how much of the day we spend sleeping? Hmm, let's see; between 6-8 hours a night, we'll say 7 to compromise= 33% a week.  A day, 29%. So in just one day, 69% of it is gone.  People.  More than half of our day is spent working, or sleeping, instead of being with family, friends, or just being able to relax and do whatever we feel like.  But no, instead we spend most of our time at work, so that we can make enough money to have the things we would like, get by, and live comfortably.  But tell me, what kind of a comfortable, wanting life is it when the only times we see our loved ones is for a few precious hours?  It's rubbish I say!! Complete rubbish.

Now I'm not saying to do away with work completely... we spend lots of money and time in school so they we can be learned in our area of work and I know that a lot of satisfaction can come from working hard in a career.  I just think that if we were able to work just a few less hours for the same amount of pay, life would be good. :)

Oh to dream!

The Project

My sister Ashley is the kind of person that when she sees something she likes can just say, "Oh I could make that."  And she does.  Kind of sickening really.  I wonder what it would be like to have that kind of talent and creativity?  It's nice to have dreams.  ANYWAY.

This was one of those things.  She took my parents old furniture set for their room and made the two matching nightstands green to put on the sides of the line for mine and Brian's wedding.  It was fabulous! And now, one of them is the stand for our tv, and the other is the nightstand for our bedroom.

Beautiful.  Then there was another piece of the set, a wardrobe that Ash and I decided to make yellow/gold.  We didn't realized what a huge project it would be... and there were a few speedbumps along the way.  Especially when you're stupid enough to uh... accidently reach for the can of black spray paint instead of the final glaze....

URG!!  After a few choice words... and the mental agony that came with me thinking I would have to sand, paint, glaze, all over again, I found that I could just spray A LOT of yellow paint over it again and re-glaze.  So... not as bad as I thought.  And now the final piece is done!!

I love it.  And now I want to do it to almost every piece of furniture I have so that I eclectic, colorful furniture all around my house!  Yay!

The Messer Men

I have come to find that I married the best man in the world.  Not a day goes by that he doesn't help me in some way, whether it's with chores, going to work, or just being there for me.  He is sensitive, hard-working, loving, caring, crazy :) and incredibly handsome!  I can hardly remember all the times I've come home from work and he's cleaned the house and bought me flowers.  He is always striving to be better and do more than the day before and there's nothing that he can't do.  I am so blessed.  I have looked up to him ever since 9th grade (well, I guess in 9th grade I looked DOWN on him... with him being a head shorter than I am:) and throughout high school and after I seriously always said to myself, "I am going to try to be the best I can so that I can have someone like Brian Messer.  And maybe one day, if I'm lucky, I can find someone that might match up to him."  I just lucked out with the real thing I guess!!  For all you single girls all there, there's 2 Messer men left!!  Patsy got a great guy and so did I, don't let the others SLIP THROUGH YOUR FINGERS!!!!

Jack will be back in April... and uh, wait a little while for Trent since he's 11 years old.  But just so you know, he loves playing Nintendo, ping pong, and telling jokes...
